Identify and fix line item delivery issues
A line item marked Active is turned on, funded, and within its flight dates — but that doesn't mean it's delivering. Post-activation changes like products going out of stock, missing keywords, or a retailer rate card update can silently block or limit delivery without any visible warning.
The Line Item Diagnostic Tool changes that. Built into Criteo Commerce Max for all onsite campaign types and buy types, it continuously monitors your active line items and surfaces configuration issues so you can fix them before they impact results.
What the Diagnostic Tool Does
The tool runs automated checks on your onsite line items and detects configuration issues that could prevent or limit ad delivery. When an issue is found, the Diagnostics column in your line items table updates with a warning status and icon.
Click the diagnostic status to open the Line Item Diagnostics side panel, which shows each issue in plain language and links directly back to the relevant setup step — Pages, Products, Creatives, or Bids/IO — so you can fix it without navigating manually.
Where to Find It
The diagnostic tool is available inside a campaign, on the Line Item Dashboard (campaign details view). In the line items table, a dedicated Diagnostics column shows a servability status and icon next to each line item.

Status | What it means |
|---|---|
Serving fully | Your line item is active and fully configured. Ads are delivering on all targeted pages as expected. |
Not serving | A configuration issue is preventing delivery entirely. Click the status to see what needs to be fixed. |
Limited serving | A configuration issue is limiting delivery. Ads may serve on some pages or in some conditions, but not all. Click the status to see the details. |
Click the status icon to open the Line Item Diagnostics side panel with a full list of issues and guided fix steps.
Issues the Tool Detects
The following checks are currently live. When a line item is flagged, the diagnostic panel will show one or more of these:
Issue | What it means | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
Line Item Must Target a Page Type | No page types are selected, so the line item has no surfaces to serve on. | Go to the Pages step → Select at least one page type and complete setup. |
Line Item Must Have Products | This Sponsored Products line item has no products assigned. | Go to the Products step → Add products. |
Line Item Dates Don’t Match IO Dates | The insertion order (IO) won’t be active for the full duration of the line item, which may reduce delivery. | This can’t be fixed directly in the platform. Contact your Criteo account team to adjust the IO dates. |
Line item must meet minimum CPM | The retailer updated their rate card. Your bid (CPM) for one or more page types now falls below the new minimum. | Go to the Bid step → Increase your CPM for the affected page type(s). |
Fix an Issue
Navigate to Campaigns and open the campaign containing the flagged line item.
In the line items table, find the line item with the diagnostic status and click the diagnostic warning icon to open the Line Item Diagnostics side panel.
In the side panel, review the issue description. Each issue includes:
What the problem is
Why it's affecting delivery
A link or button that takes you directly to the relevant setting to fix
Make the necessary changes and save.
Once you resolve all flagged issues, the status updates to Serving fully immediately — and the resolved issues are removed from the diagnostic panel right away.
