AI Shopping Assistant Page Type for Sponsored Products

The way shoppers discover products is changing. Increasingly, they are turning to AI shopping assistants to conversationally explore options, compare products, and narrow down choices. This is AI-assisted commerce: a new layer of high-intent discovery that adds to the purchase journey, with shoppers arriving informed and ready to act.

Criteo Commerce Max puts your Sponsored Products natively into those conversations at the moments shoppers are most engaged, most specific, and most ready to act. Your existing campaigns, targeting, and measurement tools are all you need to get started with the AI assistant page type, leveraging the same Sponsored Products infrastructure.

The Opportunity

When a shopper asks a retailer's AI assistant a question (for example, "best running shoes for long distance under $150") the assistant interprets that intent, extracts keywords and filters, and Criteo’s search delivery engine surfaces the most relevant products. Your existing Sponsored Products campaigns are automatically eligible to appear within those results.

What makes this surface distinctive is scale of competition: an AI assistant typically surfaces only three to five products per response, which is far fewer than a traditional search results page. That means higher visibility for your brand at exactly the moments shoppers are most actively exploring, comparing, and deciding.

Sponsored products only appear when they are strongly aligned with what the shopper asked, ensuring your ads feel like helpful suggestions rather than commercial interruptions.

How Targeting Works

No new setup is required to set up AI Assistant placements as they use the same keyword targeting and cost-per-click (CPC) bids already configured in your Sponsored Products line items.

When a shopper's query is translated into keywords and filters, your existing line items are eligible to serve, exactly as they would on a search page.

Controlling Your Investment

You have full control over how your campaigns perform on this surface, using tools already familiar to you:

  • Use bid multipliers. Apply a Page Type Bid Multiplier at the line item level to increase or decrease your investment on the AI Assistant surface relative to other page types. A positive multiplier increases your bid weight on this surface; a negative multiplier reduces it.

  • Expect standard pricing. There are no premium floors or separate ratecards for AI Assistant placements. You enter the auction on the same pricing terms as search page placements.

Measuring Performance

Because AI Assistant is a standalone page type, you can isolate its performance using your existing reporting workflow:

  1. Navigate to the Analytics section.

  2. Select Onsite Sponsored Products Activity.

  3. Apply the Page Type dimension.

  4. Filter to AI Assistant to view impressions, clicks, click-through rate (CTR), spend, and return on ad spend (ROAS) specifically for this surface.
